Staffing incentive allowance
You will be paid this allowance if you are a teacher employed in a school identified by the Ministry as requiring additional support for recruitment or retention.

About the allowance
You will be paid a staffing incentive allowance if you are a teacher or primary principal employed in a school or kura that the Ministry has identified as needing additional support for recruitment or retention.
Teachers are not eligible to receive both the staffing incentive allowance and the priority teacher supply allowance.
Eligible schools may be changed by the Ministry of Education as needs change. This won't happen more than once a year, and only after consultation with employee representatives. This list has been updated for 2024.

Eligibility and allowance conditions
The staffing incentive allowance is for:
- primary teachers
- secondary teachers
- area school teachers
- primary principals.
You will receive $1,000 per annum if you are employed:
- at an eligible school
- full-time (1 FTTE)
- permanent or long-term relief (2 consecutive terms or more).
