Privacy statement for students using DI4OL
This privacy notice applies to your personal and other information collected through the DI4OL service.
Our privacy policy is governed by the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020(external link).
We keep your personal information secure
The Ministry of Education, Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga collects some personal information directly from you. We also receive information about you from your school (or other education provider).
We will use your personal information to establish and maintain a digital identity for your online learning, and to facilitate the sharing of your information with digital service providers to allow you to access online learning.
When you use the DI4OL service to log in to an associated education website, the Ministry will share your login information with the provider of that website, to allow you to access their services.
Information collected for the DI4OL identity broker will be stored securely within the Ministry’s Microsoft Azure tenancy in Australia.
Any personal information you supply will be used by us and our third-party service providers only for purposes of the DI4OL service, and as permitted by the Privacy Act 2020.
Your personal information will not be disclosed to any third party except as authorised under the Privacy Act 2020 or other Act of Parliament.
Rights of access to and correction of personal information
You have the right to access your personal information which we hold. You also have the right to request the correction of personal information held about you if you think it is wrong.
You will always have access to, and visibility of the information held about you by the DI4OL service by accessing the linking page on the My Ako tool. You can change your email address on this linking page.
However, you cannot change some information through the DI4OL linking portal such as your Official Name, Date of Birth, or National Student Number (NSN). If you need to make these changes, please contact The Ministry of Education, Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga:
