Implementation information for schools and kura

We recognise that everyone will be at a different stage of their implementation journey. We know that across the country there is already excellent learning of Aotearoa New Zealand’s histories and Te Takanga o Te Wā happening in some schools and kura, and some are just getting started.

Implementation

Implementing changes takes time, and it may be some time before teachers and kaiako feel totally confident and capable in teaching Te Takanga o Te Wā or Aotearoa New Zealand’s histories national curriculum content as part of their local curriculum | marau ā-kura.

This is a journey for all of us, and there are many in the community such as iwi and hapū that are still working out how they would like to work alongside schools and kura to deliver rich learning. Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga - Ministry of Education wants to support effective collaboration and is looking at the best ways to do that, while learning from instances where it is working well.

Whatever stage you are at in your planning and implementation, there are a wide range of resources and professional learning supports available now for leaders, kaiako and teachers to use. We will continue to add to and enrich the implementation supports and resources that we’re providing to schools and kura.
