Curricula and NCEA big change information relevant for ITEs
Together, the Ministry of Education (Ministry) and Initial Teacher Education (ITE) leads are building stronger connections and providing opportunities to engage on the big curricula and NCEA changes.
What’s happening?
In 2021 the Ministry and ITE leads agreed to develop stronger connections to provide better ongoing support for teacher education students. Through partnering, resourcing, and communications we are running a series of hui between 2022-2025, to deliver the most up-to-date, relevant information for teacher educators about the big curricula and NCEA changes.
The ITE leads include:
- The New Zealand Council of Education Deans
- The Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand(external link)
- Teacher Education Forum of Aotearoa New Zealand (TEFANZ)(external link).
These forums have provided updates on:
- Te Marautanga o Aotearoa
- Te Whāriki a te Kōhanga Reo
- Te Whāriki: He Whāriki mātauranga mō ngā mokopuna o Aotearoa Early childhood curriculum
- The refresh of The New Zealand Curriculum.
From 2023, we will be including NCEA changes in these updates.
