Area schools Accord teacher-only days

• The June 2019 Accord between NZEI, PPTA and the Ministry allowed for 8 teacher-only days in the course of the collective agreements. 
• Both NZEI and PPTA members work in area schools. There are different approaches to the use of the teacher-only days in the primary and secondary sectors. 
• PPTA members will use the 8 days to attend the mandated secondary sector NCEA change days. 
• NZEI members will be using the days to work on curriculum changes in the context of local priorities following consultation with the school community. 
• There will be 8 days allowed for teacher-only days during the term of the collective. These 8 days will not extend the school year. 
• The days are not the only professional learning and development teachers are entitled to.
