International Education Strategy
Supporting international education to thrive and provide economic, social and cultural benefits for all New Zealand.
About our strategy
The New Zealand International Education Strategy 2022-2030, launched by the Minister on 16 August 2022, is a refresh of the 2018 Strategy. It takes account of the disruption caused by COVID-19 and what needs to happen to get back on track and move towards more economically sustainable and high-value international education into the future.
The strategy sets out two focus areas: helping providers of international education to build back onshore offerings, and building a new international education future. It has three goals and key actions for government agencies to give effect to the strategy.
- Delivering an excellent education and student experience.
- Developing global citizens.
