Children aged 2 and older have a safe and comfortable place to sleep or rest, if necessary, like a bed, stretcher, or mattress.
Guidance#
How to show you are complying#
At a sessional service, there may be occasions when an older child needs to rest or sleep. To support children’s wellbeing, you must provide safe and comfortable sleep furniture for rest or sleep for children aged 2 years and over. The specific furniture or items you choose may vary, but as a general guide, you can consider beds, stretchers and/or mattresses.
You can consider:
- a bed permanently set up in a convenient place, such as the office (this option can be double as an area for isolating sick children as well)
- a stretcher or mattress that can be pulled out and set up as required in a quiet area of the service.
Any sleeping child must be monitored as required by HS107 Sleep monitoring.
