Criterion PF108#

☀ There is a space (where children are not present) for adults working at the service to:

You must have a space where adults at the service can use where children are not present. This will mean adults have a space to use for:

their planned breaks
to meet privately with parents and colleagues
to store curriculum support materials
to use when they are focussing to undertake assessment, planning and evaluation.

The design and setup of this space will be different in each service. You may provide several separate spaces to meet this requirement.

The sun symbol ☀ indicates this space can be located outside of the licensed space if you have adequate access.

Doing more than the minimum helps make things better for children and easier for staff. Below are some ideas you can consider:

When setting up a space for staff to use, it’s helpful to think about a few practical things:

How many staff work at your service?
How long is your service open each day?
What types of roles do your staff have—for example, do you have any administrative staff?
Is it workable for administrative staff to share the space with others who are using it to relax during meal breaks?
All services need to ensure confidential information and records can be kept secure. In services without a lockable staff room or office, this can be achieved through the provision of lockable cupboards and/or lockable filing cabinets.
