Circular 2022/06 - Notice to initiate bargaining for a new Secondary Principals' Collective Agreement and a new Area School Principals' Collective Agreement

This circular is about the initiation of bargaining for the renewal of the Secondary Principals' Collective Agreement and the Area School Principals' Collective Agreement.

This circular does not replace any other.

The action needed is to bring the Notice of Initiation of Bargaining to the attention of all employees whose work may be covered by any of the proposed collective agreements, within ten days of receipt of the attached notice.

It is intended for Presiding members of school boards of all state and state-integrated secondary and area schools.

Introduction

Section 43 of the Employment Relations Act 2000 (the Act) requires that on receiving a notice of intention to bargain for a collective agreement under the Act, details of that notice are to be drawn to the attention of all employees who come within the coverage of the intended agreement within ten days of receiving that notice.

Notices of Initiation - secondary principals

The Ministry of Education has received formal notification from the New Zealand Post Primary Teachers' Association Te Wehengarua (NZPPTA) and the Secondary Principals' Association of New Zealand Inc (SPANZ Union) initiating bargaining for a collective agreement covering the work of secondary principals employed in state or state integrated secondary schools (year 9-13 schools and year 7-13 schools, including junior high schools and senior high schools).  The current collective agreement expires on 1 September 2022.

The Initiation of Bargaining notice attached below outlines the coverage clause proposed for the collective agreement.  The proposed coverage clause applies to those employees employed in a state or state integrated school who are employed by a School Board.

A copy of the relevant notice below needs to be provided as soon as possible to any employee(s) that may be covered by the renewed Secondary Principals' Collective Agreement.

The Ministry of Education has received formal notification from the New Zealand Post Primary Teachers' Association Te Wehengarua (NZPPTA) and the New Zealand Educational Institute Te Riu Roa (NZEI Te Riu Roa) initiating bargaining for a collective agreement covering the work of area school principals employed in state or state integrated area schools.  The current collective agreement expires on 5 September 2022.

The Initiation of Bargaining notice attached below outlines the coverage clause proposed for the collective agreement.  The proposed coverage clause applies to those employees employed in a state or state integrated school who are employed by a School Board.

A copy of the relevant notice below needs to be provided as soon as possible to any employee(s) that may be covered by the renewed Secondary Principals' Collective Agreement.
