Consultation on compulsory student services fees (CSSF) regulations

The Minister of Education invites submissions on a proposed minor update to CSSF regulations. Consultation closes on Friday 31 May 2019.

CSSFs are regulated by a ministerial direction which sets out the process tertiary providers must follow to set these fees and how they are spent.

The proposed minor amendment will mean that tertiary providers who charge a CSSF must publish information on their website about CSSFs, including:

  • the amount charged per equivalent full-time student (EFTS)
  • how decisions on setting these fees were made jointly or in consultation with students
  • information on how students can be involved in future changes to these fees.

This consultation is also an opportunity for students and tertiary providers to give feedback on CSSF regulations generally. This will inform any future work on CSSF regulations.
