We’re inviting whānau to share their feedback on the Parent Portal to help us improve the information and support we provide. Take a few minutes to complete our short survey.
Practising sounds and letters#
When a mokopuna is learning to read, their kaiako will show them how sounds match with letters and how to combine these to read words. They will start with simple sounds and letters, then move on to more complex ones.
These slides have the sounds and letters that are taught in the first 6 months of kura. You can use them at home to practise the sounds and letters mokopuna have been learning at kura.
Practice is important when learning sounds and letters.
Practising the sounds your mokopuna has learned, for up to 10 minutes a day, will help them to remember what they have been learning at kura.
The slides are best viewed full screen. Select the 3 dots at the bottom of the slides and then select 'Enter full screen'. The resources may not be in accessible formats.
