Understanding what your mokopuna learns#

The Parent Portal is a collection of guidance and resources for whānau.

This year–by–year learning guide covers Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and currently covers Tau 1 to 8. We'll be adding more soon.

The guide is structured by year level. Find the level of your mokopuna. Within that section, you will find ways to understand what they do at kura, and how you can support them to achieve what they need to this year.

Te Reo Rangatira#

There are lots of fun ways that you can support mokopuna learning at home. We’ve provided some ideas and some simple ways that you as a whānau can weave learning into your whānau routine.

Mokopuna will develop their te reo Māori language skills through engaging with hands-on activities and being exposed to reo Māori that builds and expands on their existing knowledge.  They will explore how pānui, tuhituhi and kōrero help them understand the world and communicate their ideas effectively. With the support of their kaiako, they will learn to ask thoughtful questions, interpret texts, and express themselves clearly through writing and discussion.

Pāngarau#
