Opting in is a simple one‑time set up completed by your school's IT administrator. Using a step‑by‑step guide, it will take just 10-15 minutes to complete.
School IT service providers will also support schools with the change.
What the Learner Identity Broker is#
The LIB service allows students to sign in to Ministry-approved applications using their existing school credentials (Google or Microsoft). It removes the need for multiple usernames, passwords, or platform-specific logins.
Find more information about LIB here:
It will eventually become our preferred method for giving schools access to applications such as SMART and other digital services.
Why it was developed#
Many schools manage complex sets of logins, passwords, and access processes across different applications.
This creates administrative burden, inconsistent user experiences, and potential security risks – particularly as students move between classes, devices, or even schools.
The LIB service addresses these challenges and support schools to transition toward a more modern, secure, and connected learning environment.
