Exploring with our senses

For tamariki | children, exploring their senses can include playing with finger paint, slime or sand, making music or dramatic and pretend play using their imaginations. You can support your tamaiti | child with this by making equipment and materials available and exploring alongside them.

Having fun with music
Tamariki | children are born into a world of sound and movement. Music helps their intellectual, imaginative, emotional, social and cultural growth.
Family and dramatic play
Family and dramatic play helps tamariki | children to pretend and act out different ideas and roles, allowing them to learn and practise social skills.
