Achievement and curriculum#

For Years 0 to 8, check you have registered or applied for:

  • accelerative supports professional learning and development (PLD)
  • structured literacy approaches (SLA)
  • maths PLD.

Eligible schools are required to check they have enrolled 1 SLA staffing resource teacher for the above PLD.

Schools will need to:

  • order Ministry-funded maths resources through Salesforce between 6 and 24 October
  • plan and deliver your curriculum days.

You are also encouraged to upload phonics checks and Hihira Weteoro results through the secure data portal (SDP).

Attendance#

Your school should review the guidance for attendance management plans (AMPs) and stepped attendance response (STAR) resources to embed in your practice.

In-school service provider (ISP) schools that elected an October start date can begin providing services. You can also start working with your new attendance service provider (ASP) once they are in place.

Schools employing learning support coordinators (LSCs) for 2026 should read the role guidance information that will be released on 14 October to support your recruitment process.

Workforce#

Eligible schools can apply for the teacher bonding scheme. Participating teachers can receive up to $40,000 (before tax) over 5 years. There are 185 places in the scheme each year allocated on a first-come first-served basis.

Eligible schools or kura can apply for the overseas finder’s fee of $3,450 (including GST). This can be claimed to offset recruitment costs. Allocation for this is on a first-come first-served basis.
