Curriculum and achievement#
Final frameworks and Years 0 to 10 content for the New Zealand Curriculum and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa will be published by 9 September.
Some content will be released earlier: science and social sciences will be released on 12 August, and pūtaiao and pūmanawa tangata will be released on 26 August, helping schools and kura get ready to start using it in 2027.

Attendance#
Keeping ākonga healthy helps support regular attendance. A resource pack has been developed with Health NZ, including simple guidance to help whānau decide when ākonga are well enough to attend school. Share these resources with parents and whānau within your school communities:
Learning support#
Learning support coordinators (LSCs)#
New professional learning and development for LSCs is available from Term 3 through the Ako Learning Management System.
All LSCs working in schools and kura (in-school or cluster-based) are encouraged to complete LSC induction and role essentials modules.

Digital applications for learning support#
We will be introducing an online process for learning support requests later in 2026.
From 31 August, the first phase will introduce an online applications for the:
- Ongoing Resourcing Scheme (ORS)
- School High Health Needs Fund (SHHNF).
School staff who submit these applications should look out for detailed information from August. There is no change to criteria or the verification process.

Employment-Based Initial Teacher Education (EBITE) Funding Award#
The Kaupapa Māori and Māori-medium Employment-Based Initial Teacher Education (EBITE) Funding Award supports those on a Limited Authority to Teach (LAT) to train as a teacher.
Applications are now open and will close on Friday 21 August. There are up to 65 places available for study in the 2027 cohort.
