Ngā Haeata o Aotearoa 2024: A Māori Education Indicators Report has been released and provides a snapshot of how the education system is performing for Māori learners and all learners in Māori language in education.

It presents quantitative data at a national level that aligns with the two Māori education strategies - Ka Hikitia – Ka Hāpaitia | The Māori Education Strategy and Tau Mai Te Reo | The Māori Language in Education Strategy.

The report spans early learning, primary and secondary schooling and tertiary education across English medium education, Māori medium education and Kaupapa Māori education.

The data presented in Ngā Haeata 2024 shows that while there are pockets of success in Māori education, significant shifts continue to be required to support all Māori learners and all learners in Māori language in education to achieve excellent and equitable outcomes.
