More support for students and ākonga

Package of measures aimed at helping ākonga ‘catch up’ learning lost during Covid-19.

Associate Education Minister Jan Tinetti today announced a package of extra support for students whose learning has been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The package includes:

  • Nearly 1,000 more overseas and domestic teachers.
  • Funding for schools to provide additional teaching and tutoring.
  • Hundreds more places on Te Kura’s summer school.
  • More targeted Māori and Pacific tutoring and mentoring.

The initiatives were announced during a visit to Aotea College on Wednesday, September 14.
