Kupe Scholarships recognise highly accomplished Māori and Pacific student teachers
The 2022 Kupe Scholarships for Māori and Pacific High Achievers has been awarded to 26 student teachers, in recognition of their high academic achievement and leadership potential.
The Kupe Scholarships, worth over $22,000, aim to attract highly accomplished Māori and Pacific students to the teaching profession and support them to become teachers in early childhood, primary and secondary education.
The inspiring 2022 scholars will be celebrated at an awards ceremony hosted by the Associate Minister of Education (Pacific Peoples), Hon Aupito William Sio, at Parliament buildings on Wednesday 14 September.
The next round of Kupe Scholarships opened for applications on 17 January 2023 and closed on 14 February 2023.
