This investment includes around $123m for the delivery of a new attendance service and almost $17m to support and strengthen frontline attendance services.
The new services will reach double the current number of students and include an option of some in-school provision for schools with very high numbers of chronically absent students.
Providers will work with families, local communities and social agencies to deliver comprehensive services, ranging from advice and support to schools, to intensive case management of students.
Frontline attendance services will have access to a new case management system and better data monitoring.
The new attendance service will be fully operational from early 2026.
