2020 and 2021 Kupe Scholars Announced
Celebrating the 2020 and 2021 recipients of the prestigious TeachNZ Kupe Scholarships for Māori and Pacific High Achievers.
Forty-eight Māori and Pacific student teachers, across 2020 and 2021, have been awarded the prestigious Kupe Scholarships in recognition of their high academic achievement and leadership potential.
Due to the restrictions of Covid-19, the 2020 and 2021 awards ceremonies were cancelled. Associate Ministers of Education the Hon Kelvin Davis and the Hon Aupito William Sio shared their messages of congratulations virtually.

The Kupe Scholarship, worth over $22,000, aims to attract highly accomplished Māori and Pacific students to the teaching profession and support them to become inspiring teachers in early childhood, primary and secondary education.
