Learning areas available#
All Years 0 to 10 content will be available by 9 September 2026. Pūtaiao and Pūmanawa Tangata will be released on 26 August 2026.
Science and Social Sciences help young people understand the world around them and their place within it. They build the knowledge and skills to understand complex issues, evaluate information and evidence, and make informed decisions.
Years 0 to 10#
Schools are expected to start using Years 0 to 10 Science, Social Sciences, Pūtaiao, and Pūmanawa Tangata from 2027. They will have 2027 and 2028 to fully implement them.
Years 9 to 10#
Schools are expected to start using the Years 9 to 10 content for all learning areas and wāhanga ako from the start of 2027.
Years 0 to 8#
All remaining Years 0 to 8 content is expected to start being used from 2029.
Learning Languages and Ngā Reo are not required, although encouraged in Years 7 to 10.
