Education Gazette issue 8 – Leadership in action

In this issue#

Mālō e lelei

This month we’re celebrating ākonga who are stepping up to support each other at school, and in the community.

Whether it's addressing period poverty at Howick College, supporting younger tamariki in Wairoa, serving their communities at Oratia School, or building connection and teamwork through sport in rural communities, these stories show student leadership in action.

A strong sense of belonging also runs throughout this issue. From initiatives that strengthen school culture to programmes that support wellbeing, inclusion and online safety, read about what happens when students, educators, whānau and communities work together to create positive environments.

At a time when achievement and outcomes are rightly in focus, it's also worth celebrating the qualities that help strong learning communities thrive: kindness, empathy, service and teamwork.
