Created in memory of Victoria Cross recipient Second Lieutenant Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa Ngarimu and the 28th (Māori) Battalion, the Ngarimu video and waiata composition competitions honour a legacy of courage, service, and sacrifice.

The Ngarimu competitions are open to ākonga Māori in Years 7 to 13, inviting creative expression through film or waiata to bring the stories and legacy of the 28th (Māori) Battalion to life.
