What in-school LSCs do#
Learning support coordinators (LSCs) are experienced, registered teachers with a current full practising certificate. They:
- support students to get the right help earlier
- better support teachers to meet diverse learning needs
- make it easier for families to understand and access learning support at school.
Which schools are eligible for in-school LSCs#
The new LSC staffing entitlement is for schools and kura with learners in Years 1 to 8 that do not currently have access to an LSC.
Schools that access LSCs as part of a cluster will continue to do that.
The document below sets out how access to in-school LSCs will be rolled out.

Induction for LSCs#
A learning support coordinator induction is available to support schools who have an in-school LSC. Anyone with an Education Sector Login (ESL) can access the new induction course including all in-school LSCs, cluster-based LSCs, and SENCOs.
- The 3 induction courses are being rolled out between February and April 2026.
- Each course includes 3 modules.
- Each module will take approximately 30 to 45 minutes to complete.
All courses can be accessed through the Ministry’s Education Learning Management System (LMS).
Our LSC induction information sheet includes access information, who to contact for support, course dates and questions and answers.
PLD will be available later in 2026 for all LSCs.
