The 4 Crown entities we monitor:

• Education New Zealand
• New Zealand Qualifications Authority
• New Zealand School Property Agency
• Tertiary Education Commission.

We also monitor the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.

What we do#

Approach#

We maintain a high-trust, engagement-based no-surprises approach.

We keep a good relationship with Crown entities through active and open engagement about:

• financial and non-financial performance
• risks, challenges and mitigations
• delivery of statutory functions
• delivery on government priorities and ministerial expectations.

Advice#

We provide independent advice to the Minister of Education and Minister for Tertiary Education on their:

• quarterly and annual performance
• statutory accountability documents.

This is to provide assurance to ministers and support entity-driven continuous improvement.

Our advice considers past and future events and is strengthened by sharing information with Crown entities.
