We want to make sure all leaders, teachers, and kaiako have the information, resources and support they need to do the best job they can for their students.
We have an evolving suite of resources to help schools use the New Zealand Curriculum now that it is finalised.
We recognise that the refreshed New Zealand curriculum requires something different from our leaders and teachers, to continue to support students to have meaningful experiences in the classroom. That is why we are developing curriculum resources at the planning level. This will help translate the curriculum document into week-by-week sequencing of learning experiences.
Learning kits#
Learning kits are being developed for all learning areas.
A learning kit provides a full year of planning guidance for each learning area. It will include an annual plan, all unit plans and supporting anchor lesson plans.
These are not compulsory for use but show how each learning area can be taught in the classroom.
This means you can pick them up and try them out, use them as examples to plan and develop your own units and lessons, and adapt them so they work for your classroom.
Curriculum resource maps#
Phase-by-phase visual maps show the resources available for each learning area and year level. They help teachers and leaders find teaching, learning, and assessment resources to support effective practice and student success.
Each map includes links to curriculum resources and is updated regularly as new resources become available. There are maps for:
- Phase 1 – Years 0 to 3
- Phase 2 – Years 4 to 6
- Phase 3 – Years 7 to 8
- Phase 4 – Years 9 to 10.
You can download the maps on Tāhūrangi.

More resources coming#
New resources will continue to be aligned with the fully updated New Zealand Curriculum.
We are continuing to develop and release resources across learning areas and year levels.
Resources will continue to be updated and improved as schools and kura use them and provide feedback.
Tell us what you think#
We encourage you to engage with the resources and provide us with feedback so we can continue to improve them as they're released over time.
In particular, we'd like to hear how these resources support schools to deliver a year-by-year curriculum and how students respond to them.
You can provide your feedback below.
