
Some of the proposed changes in ETAB 2 include:
- amending school board objectives to better align with Government priorities, including making educational achievement the paramount objective for school boards, while retaining the other objectives as essential supporting objectives
- removing the Minister’s power to issue a statement of national education and learning priorities (NELP)
- increasing the notification period unions must provide before undertaking strike action from 3 days to 7 days
- strengthening the focus on attendance, including a new requirement for boards to have attendance management plans
- requiring universities to have a statement on freedom of expression.
