The areas of change being explored could change how funding is allocated, if the government agrees. This could make a difference to many whānau | families and tamariki | children, their communities and to those who work in and provide ECE.
Who the MAG wants to hear from#
The MAG wants to hear the views of parents and whānau, future parents, providers, the ECE workforce, employers of parents, and anyone who cares about ECE.
MAG chair Linda Meade says it’s important to hear views on how possible changes could affect people, and whether the changes being considered are supported.
“We want to know if you think the possible options for change will make a positive difference. We also want to hear if you think changes are not helpful, or you do not think change is needed.
“We have not made decisions on our advice and recommendations. You can help us by sharing your views now.”
About the MAG#
The MAG was appointed in June 2025 by Associate Minister of Education Hon David Seymour. It will provide advice and recommendations to government by the end of this year. The government will take decisions about any changes to the funding system.
