Overview#

The amendment will provide Wesley Intermediate with an appropriately sized zone to include areas reasonably convenient to the school.

The purpose of an enrolment scheme is to assist the school board to manage the risk of overcrowding, provide a fair and transparent process for enrolment and to ensure we are making the best use of schooling facilities across the network of local schools.

We are working with Wesley Intermediate to establish an amendment to their current enrolment scheme.

A key part of an enrolment scheme is the home zone.

The enrolment scheme home zone of Wesley Intermediate requires amending to provide Wesley Intermediate with an appropriately sized zone.

Some boundary roads will overlap with the boundaries of neighbouring Kowhai Intermediate and Blockhouse Bay Intermediate. Students within the areas of the zone overlaps have a right to enrol at either school.

What this means for your whānau | family#

All ākonga | learners who live within the home zone of Wesley Intermediate will have an entitlement to attend the school. Those that live outside the home zone may be accepted if there are out-of-zone places available and an application meets legislative requirements through an official ballot process.

Proposed amended areas#

Home zone#

All students who live within the home zone boundaries described below and/or shown on the attached map shall be entitled to enrol at the school.

Starting at the intersection of New North (Addresses 910 to 1174 included) and Mt Albert Roads head south along New North Road to the intersection with Bollard Road. Follow Bollard Road (Addresses 6 to 92 included) turning left into New Windsor Road (Addresses 54 to 276 Included). Head southeast along New Windsor Road as it turns into Boundary Road. Follow Boundary Road (Address 2 to 6 included) until the intersection with Rosamund Avenue. Turn into Rosamund Avenue (included), and at the T intersection with itself, turn right and continue to follow Rosamund Road to the insection with John Davis Road. Follow John Davis Road (included) northeast and turn left into Richardson Road (addresses 4/371 and below included, 370 and below included). Follow Richardson Road northwest and turn right into Maioro Street (included). Follow Maioro Street over the Southwestern motorway turning right into Stoddard Road (included). Follow Stoddard Road turning left into May Road (excluded). Follow May Road turning left into Mt Albert Road (Addresses 305B and below included 256 to 310 included), Columbia Road, Huntingtree Avenue, Kiwitea Street 49 and above odd and 66 and above even, and Freyburg Avenue also included), and back to the starting point.

All no exit roads within the boundaries described above are included in the zone unless otherwise stated.

We will consider all feedback and liaise with the board before making a final decision. The new changes are proposed to take effect 20 July 2026.
