Purpose of this consultation#

It’s important that we hear and understand community perspectives before we establish schemes – especially the practical implications and whether the boundaries accurately reflect the area.

Your feedback will help inform our final decision. Please have a look at the home zone information available below before you participate in the consultation process.

About enrolment schemes#

Enrolment schemes help school boards manage enrolments and make sure children can attend their local school.

The purpose of an enrolment scheme is to:

  • help the board to manage the risk of overcrowding
  • provide a fair and transparent process for enrolment
  • make sure we are making the best use of schooling facilities across the network of local schools.

What is changing#

A key part of an enrolment scheme is the home zone. Home zones set out a mapped area, and only the students living in this area then have the right to enrol at the school.

We are proposing a new home zone for Otaika Valley School – see the map and written description below.

The enrolment scheme is proposed to start on 1 January 2027.
