Overview#

The purpose of an enrolment scheme is:

  • to help the school board manage the risk of overcrowding
  • provide a fair and transparent process for enrolment, and
  • to make sure we are making the best use of schooling facilities across the network of local schools.

If overcrowding occurs or is likely to occur at a state school, we must establish an enrolment scheme for the school. Due to an increase in enrolments at Naenae College, the school is now at risk of overcrowding.

Enrolment schemes do mean that all families will have entitlements to attend a school that is reasonably convenient to them but won’t necessarily have the same entitlement to enrol at all state schools.

Important

All students who are already enrolled at Naenae College before the enrolment scheme commences are entitled to stay at Naenae College.

The new enrolment scheme is proposed to commence from Term 1, 2026.
