Overview#

The purpose of an enrolment scheme is to assist the school board to manage the risk of overcrowding, provide a fair and transparent process for enrolment and to ensure we are making the best use of schooling facilities across the network of local schools.

We are working with Howick College to establish an amendment to their current enrolment scheme.

A key part of an enrolment scheme is the home zone.

It is proposed that the enrolment scheme home zone of Howick College includes the Brookby and Clevedon areas and is intended to support and strengthen learning by building on approaches and pathways that have been developed over previous years.

Some boundary roads will overlap with the boundaries of neighbouring Papakura High School and Alfriston College. Students living within the zone overlaps have a right to enrol at either school.

What this means for your whānau | family#

All ākonga | learners who live within the home zone of Howick College will have an entitlement to attend the school and those that live outside the home zone may be accepted if there are out-of-zone places available and an application meets legislative requirements through an official ballot process.

Proposed amended zone#

Home zone#

All students who live within the proposed home zone described below (and shown on the map below) shall be eligible to enrol at the school.

• Starting at the roundabout of Bradbury/Botany/Union Roads travel north along Botany Road (256/199 and below excluded) and turn right on to Ridge Road (excluded).
• Continue along Ridge Road and Picton Street (75 – 127 / 78 – 128 included) turning north-east on to Uxbridge Road.
• At Beach Road (excluded) travel east across country to meet the coastline and follow the coast south past Beachlands and Maraetai to the North Road /Maraetai Coast Road intersection.
• Follow North Road south to the intersection with Clevedon-Kawakawa Road (Addresses 51 and below included, 58 and below included). Head east along Clevedon-Kawakawa Road turning right into McNicol Road (Addresses 1-303 included).
• From Mcnicol Road turn west along Tourist Road (Addresses 234-334 included). From Tourist Road turn right into Monument Road (Addresses 171 and below included, 208 and below included), turning left into Hyde Road. From Hyde Road turn left into Papakura-Clevedon Road (Odd numbered addresses north of West road included, 144 and below included) and follow this southwest turning into West Road.
• Follow West Road northwest, then continue northwest along Brookby Road (Addresses 87 and above included, 88 and above included). At the intersection with Brookby Road, Whitford Park Road and Ara-Kotinga, follow Whitford Park Road  to the intersection with Whitford Park Road, Whitford Maraetai Road and Whitford Road.
• Travel west into Whitford Road, (Griggs Road included, Caldwells Road excluded) cross the Mangemangeroa Bridge (Point View Drive excluded) and turn south west on to Chapel Road (Santa Ana Drive and Kilkenny Drive excluded).
• Travel west along Ti Rakau Drive (excluded) then north along Botany Road back to the starting point.Proof of residence within the home zone will be required.

We will consider all feedback and liaise with the board before making a final decision. Any new changes are proposed to take effect 20 July 2026.
