Overview#

The amendment will provide greater clarity of the zone boundaries due to new residential housing and roading.

The purpose of an enrolment scheme is to assist the school board to manage the risk of overcrowding, provide a fair and transparent process for enrolment and to ensure we are making the best use of schooling facilities across the network of local schools.

Purpose and principles of an enrolment scheme – New Zealand Legislation

Information#

We are working with Botany Downs Secondary College to establish an amendment to their current enrolment scheme.

A key part of an enrolment scheme is the home zone.

The enrolment scheme home zone of Botany Downs Secondary College requires amending to provide greater clarity of the zone boundaries due to new residential housing and roading in the Whitford Park area.

Some boundary roads will overlap with the boundaries of neighbouring Mission Heights Junior College and Ormiston Senior College. Students within the areas of the zone overlaps have a right to enrol at either school.

What it means for your whānau | family#

All ākonga | learners who live within the home zone of Botany Downs Secondary College will have an entitlement to attend the school and those that live outside the home zone may be accepted if there are out-of-zone places available and an application meets legislative requirements through an official ballot process.

Proposed amended area#

At the intersection of Whitford Road and Whitford-Maraetai Road the zone travels down Whitford Park Road (both sides included until Saleyard Road). Head west across country to the northern boundary of the Gracechurch Reserve (excluding Sandstone Road and associated no exit roads and all of the Mission Heights estate).
