Investment in improved attendance#
The Government has recently announced an investment of almost $140 million over the next 4 years to improve student attendance. This includes around $123 million for frontline attendance service delivery, and almost $17 million to support and strengthen the frontline services.
Contracts to deliver new comprehensive attendance services will be awarded following an application/tender process, which will open in June 2025.
Attendance service catchment areas#
In preparation for the new contracts, we have reviewed the current provider catchment areas. As a result, we will be making some changes to make sure contracts are large enough to be viable yet small enough to be local.
We have published all provisional catchment areas to give you an opportunity to provide feedback before they are finalised.
The schools currently listed in the catchment areas do not include Māori Medium and Kaupapa Māori kura. New services will be available for ākonga | students in these kura. More information will be provided after discussions with key partners such as peak bodies.
