What the scholarship covers#
We fund the Pacific Education Foundation scholarships to encourage Pacific students into further education. The foundation’s board members reflect the modern Pacific Island community and its various cultures.
There are 12 Pacific Education Foundation scholarships available in 2025. Scholarships are available for applicants in any field of study. There are 2 types of scholarships available:
- a $5,000 grant for full-time study at undergraduate level
- a $10,000 grant for full-time study at postgraduate level.
Who can apply#
To be eligible for these scholarships, you must be
- enrolled full-time in a tertiary institution in New Zealand
- be indigenous Pacific cultural heritage
- be a New Zealand citizen or resident and
- be involved in your local community and, where possible, your Pacific community.
Applications from mature students are welcome.

After you apply#
Decisions about awarding the scholarships will be made by the Pacific Education Foundation Board. Decisions will be final.
The Pacific Education Foundation Board will inform all applicants by email on the outcome of their application by mid-December 2026.
General feedback will be provided to all applicants. The board is unable to provide individual feedback on applications.
