What the funding is for#

The one-off funding is for essential building maintenance for state and state-integrated schools.

PMG top-up funding can be used to fund maintenance such as:

  • painting
  • exterior washdowns
  • roof and cladding repairs
  • gutter cleaning
  • tree maintenance.

The funding can also be used for minor capital works projects under $5,000.

Maintenance guide for schools

The funding is not available for:

  • public private partnership schools
  • state-integrated schools that are closing at the end of 2025
  • schools opening in 2026.

The maintenance top-up amount calculated is final.

Where the money can be spent#

Funding can only be used on land and buildings owned by us. It cannot be used for school board-owned property.

For state-integrated schools, the funding is only for integrated land and buildings.

How much the funding is#

Schools are entitled to either $5,000 or 50% of their 2025 PMG funding (plus GST), whichever is greater.

How to apply for PMG top-up funding#

Schools and kura can apply for the funding by completing the form below. The form includes the amount of each school’s top-up.

Your school needs to submit the form by 31 October 2025.

After you apply#

Once the form has been submitted, the funding will be paid into to your school's bank accounts within 5 to 10 working days.

The funding will not be paid until the form has been submitted.

Your school has until the end of the Term 1 2026 holidays to complete your maintenance work. We will follow up to confirm that the work has been completed.
