Learning support staffing allowance (ORS staffing)#

Any school that provides special education is eligible for the learning support staffing allowance:

• 0.10 full-time teaching equivalent (FTTE) is provided for ‘high’ level ORS students.
• 0.20 FTTE is provided for ‘very high’ level ORS students.

The learning support staffing allowance, expressed in FTTE, is not a guaranteed portion of the staffing entitlement.

If an ORS student withdraws from a school, the staffing allowance is also removed following their last day at the school.

Learning support management allowance (ORS management)#

ORS management staffing is calculated by multiplying your ORS FTTE by 0.05.

Learning support salary units#

Schools that provide special education are eligible for salary units for learning support. The formula for determining a school’s learning support salary units accounts for any ORS staffing that is transferred between schools.

Generating ORS staffing#

ORS staffing is generated when ORS is showing in the ENROL 'Learning Support' section.

When an ORS student starts or leaves a school, update the 'Schools Attended' section in ENROL.

Sometimes students eligible for ORS won’t have their learning support details updated on the first day of school. When this happens, email us.
