What schools must report on#
All schools and kura must prepare an annual report. The report shows how school boards have applied their financial resources to achieve the goals set out in their strategic plan in the previous year.
It may be read by:
- parents and the wider community of the school
- the Ministry of Education
- Members of Parliament.
Section 134 of the Education and Training Act 2020 – New Zealand Legislation
Format for reporting#
We have developed an interim template to help you create the non-financial components of your annual report. This template reflects the current requirements for annual reports and the intended changes to regulations.
More information about the intended changes, including an information sheet, is available on the school planning and reporting framework page.
The school planning and reporting framework
The use of the template is optional. You can adapt it to suit the needs of your school, kura and community.
If you would like to provide feedback on our interim template, send us an email.
Email: [email protected]
The final template will be available once the regulations are published.
The financial statements component of the annual report has a template with a format that you must use. The school annual financial statements page explains how to prepare these.
