Update on the affected Ministry websites and further advice for early learning services#
In last week’s special issue of the Early Learning Bulletin, we shared information on the security vulnerabilities which are affecting online applications globally, including some of our Ministry websites and the actions we’re taking in response.
This issue contains the latest updates on this work and further advice for ECEs. We appreciate your patience as we continue working on these important security updates.

We expect you will now be able to submit new vacancy listings. The Education Gazette team will review and publish as usual.
Other features such as the news articles will remain unavailable for now.
Advice for early learning services#
If you are responsible for an online service or website, check with your vendor or IT specialist to make sure the updates have been made.
If you use a common website software such as WordPress, log in and check that all software updates have been applied, including for plugins.
Status of other Ministry websites#
The following are back online:
The Pourato platform is unaffected. If you usually access Pourato through the Education Applications website, which is currently unavailable, go directly to here instead:

Education Review Office cut-off dates for end-of-year applications#
If you're planning to open a new early learning service, amend an existing licence, or complete a change of management before Christmas or early 2027, now is a good time to check ERO's application deadlines. These dates help ensure completed applications can be considered before the Christmas and January period.
Key dates#
To have a completed application considered by:
- 18 December, submit by 6 November
- the end of January, submit by 4 December.
These apply to new service licences (EC1), licence amendments (EC8) and changes of management (EC9). Late applications may not be processed by the requested date.

Sexual violence prevention workshops#
The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) is funding community-based workshops to help parents and caregivers keep tamariki safe from sexual violence.
These workshops will be delivered in community settings including early learning services, and services in Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury and Hawke’s Bay may be approached by local providers to host.

Meningococcal disease – act quickly#
Recent cases of Meningococcal disease are a reminder to know the signs and get help fast.
Early symptoms can look like a cold or flu but then rapidly deteriorate.
If you are concerned, do not wait - seek medical advice immediately or call 111.
Immunisation can protect against meningococcal disease and is free for babies, children under five, and eligible young people aged 13 to 25.
