Minister's agreement to fewer half-days
The Education and Training Act 2020 requires all State schools to open and close according to requirements in Schedule 21 of the Act or regulations made under the Act.
Schedule 21 was automatically repealed on 1 January 2023 and replaced by Education (When State Schools Must Be Open) Regulations 2022(external link)(external link) Minimum half-days are now set in these Regulations.
The Regulations automatically allow schools to be open for fewer half days to accommodate teacher-only days, as long as those half days have been agreed with the Minister.
