Reference designs: Standard classroom block upgrade

The Reference Designs for Standard Classroom Block Upgrades make it faster, easier and cheaper to upgrade standard classrooms to flexible learning spaces.

About the Reference Designs

Use the Reference Designs when planning to upgrade a standard classroom block.

The Reference Designs have been prepared by architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, and educationalists.

The Reference Designs show:

  • designs specific to each block type
  • most of the information needed to complete the Preliminary Design stage.

Each Reference Design package contains:

  • briefing document (high level overview, and how to identify the block type)
  • appendices: Architectural Scope, Structural Scope and Cost Estimates (technical information required by property professionals working on your project)

The Reference Design packages will help you adapt existing teaching spaces in ways that are well designed, structurally sound, and that will maintain the value of these assets for many years to come.

You can use them to begin discussions about your longer term property aspirations, and adapt them or stage them to suit available funding.
