Learning Support Study Award - Travel contribution for July block course
For teachers who are currently receiving the Learning Support Teachers’ Study Award.
We understand there are concerns regarding the travel contribution for the July block course which has been recently moved to online due to COVID-19. Please see below advice regarding your travel and accommodation costs.
If you have not arranged travel for the block course:
Do NOT book accommodation or flights for the July block course, it will now be hosted online.
If you have already arranged the travel:
Please try to get all the travel cost refunded or credited so you can use it for your personal use in the future if possible.
Please try to get a full refund as soon as possible.
Major airlines are offering to hold your fare in credit for those whose travel plans have been impacted as a result of COVID-19.
At the moment both Jetstar and Air NZ are offering this arrangement for flights between March to the end of May. As your flight for the block course is in June/July, it is understandable that you will not be able to do anything at this stage if you bought non-flexible tickets.
As the situation is rapidly changing, we would like to give it some time before we finalise the travel contribution for you. Please try your best to receive a full refund or ask the airline to hold your fare in credit till your departure date.
If your airline offers you a refund or to hold your fare in credit by 16th June; please go ahead and do so.
If your airline does not offer you a refund or doesn’t agree to hold your fare by 16th June; please send an email to LearningSupport.Workforce@education.govt.nz If it is impossible for you to hold your fare in credit or receive a full refund, the Ministry will cover the cost for those flights. This request will be only processed after 16th June.
If you have any enquiries, please feel free to email LearningSupport.Workforce@education.govt.nz
