Following a job shadow exchange opportunity can help a staff member to develop.
TeachNZ run principal exchange programmes that allow principals, tumuaki, and aspiring principals to experience different jurisdictions, settings and mediums, which can assist them in developing leadership capabilities and practices.
The South Australian Principal Exchange offers recipients the chance to work alongside a South Australian (SA) principal in a SA school, before returning to their own school to host the SA principal. For the 2019 Primary and Secondary Principal Job Shadow

The New Zealand Principal Job Shadow Pilot has been modelled on the South Australia-New Zealand Principal Exchange. It offers principals, tumuaki and aspiring principals the opportunity to shadow a fellow New Zealand principal, and in some cases return to their own school to be shadowed themselves.
