Welfare of international students is a priority

New Zealand government agencies are aware of the situation faced by an Auckland University student currently being reported in the media.

As Administrator for the Education (Pastoral Care of International Students) Code of Practice 2016 (the Code), the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) has been working with the relevant parties to establish whether all responsibilities under the Code have been met, and to make certain that the student has received appropriate help and support.

As the matter is being investigated, no further comment can be made at this stage. Further information will be provided as soon as possible.
