Talanoa Ako education programme on radio and mobile app to reach more Pacific families

Key information about education and tips to support children with distance learning will be made accessible to Pacific families through the Talanoa Ako radio programme and mobile app.

Talanoa Ako (previously known as Pacific PowerUP) is an education programme for Pacific parents. Since 2013, it has been helping Pacific parents and communities build their educational knowledge to support their children’s learning.

The radio sessions will be aired on the Pacific Media Network (PMN) station in 7 Pacific languages and English. It starts on Monday 20 April 2020 beginning with English and Cook Islands language sessions. The sessions will be presented by teachers. The Talanoa Ako mobile app will go live in late May. It will be free to download for Android and iOS devices.

The radio and app will also supplement post COVID-19 local delivery of Talanoa Ako by the community partners in 65 locations. The partners will lead the on-ground support for Pacific parents and their communities.
