Home Learning | Papa Kāinga TV available anytime OnDemand

Home Learning | Papa Kāinga TV is screening on TV 2 and 2+1 for the last time this Friday, but will be available anytime OnDemand.

Home Learning | Papa Kāinga TV was set up as part of a package of supports to make sure that every child had one way of accessing the curriculum when they were unable to attend school and early learning centres due to COVID-19.

Since launching on 15 April, total viewership of Home Learning | Papa Kāinga TV climbed to more than 3 million and almost 180,00 for OnDemand/Live streaming (as at 11 June).

The response from viewers has been overwhelmingly positive. The channel helped learners and their whānau across New Zealand stay connected with learning. It was also relayed across the Pacific Islands, including being hosted on national networks in the Cook Islands and Fiji to support their own lockdown arrangements.

We want to acknowledge all of the organisations and individuals who have made Home Learning | Papa Kāinga TV possible. The channel was set up within a very short space of time thanks to the efforts of educators and broadcasters who responded to the challenge and enabled us to provide educational television for the children and young people of Aotearoa New Zealand, aligned to our national curriculum.

Through those efforts we now have an extensive bank of resources that teachers, learners and whānau can access anytime from TVNZ OnDemand. Lesson plans and other resources are available from the Learning From Home website. We’re looking at ways to bring the two together so they are easily accessible.
