Auckland

Auckland is experiencing unprecedented school aged population growth across the region. By 2030 we expect there will be 60,000 more school-aged children living in Auckland. To meet that demand we are building new schools and classrooms, and we are also working with boards to help them manage enrolments by implementing enrolment schemes.

Auckland enrolment scheme programme

In 2020 we began a three-phase accelerated enrolment scheme programme for the region. We used a bundled approach, where possible, to work with groups of schools in the same area, at the same time. Delays due to Covid-19 meant that some schools were shifted to different phases of the programme.

By the conclusion of the programme, we had worked with 162 schools to:

implement 101 new school zones
review 61 existing school zones, and:
- amend 20 zones
- keep 41 zones the same.
