Normal School Allowance

You’ll be paid a Normal School Allowance allowance if you’re a principal or teacher employed at a ‘normal’ or ‘model’ school.

About normal schools

Under section 148 of the Education Act 1989 certain primary schools are designated as ‘normal’ or ‘model’ schools.

Section 148: Education Act 1989 – NZ Legislation website (external link)

These schools are specifically used for teacher training and in the past were usually associated with a teacher training college.
