Associate Teacher Allowance

You’ll be paid an Associate Teacher Allowance if you’re involved in the practical training of teacher trainees.

Primary principals and teachers

The allowance you’ll receive is $51.60 for each week that you have a trainee in your class for at least 4 teaching days. However, you can’t receive this allowance as well as the normal school allowance.

Normal School Allowance

The allowance is set out in the collective agreements as follows:

Secondary teachers

The allowance you’ll receive is a minimum of $3.19 for each timetabled hour you work with a trainee as set out in clause 4.11 of the collective agreement.

Area school teachers

The allowance you’ll receive is a minimum of $3.20 per student for each hour you’re working with them, up to a maximum of 16 hours, as set out in clause 3.15 of the collective agreement.
